Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in high relief after the first definitive portrait by Cecil Thomas. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, with her hair neatly coiffed and a draped neckline visible at the truncation. A fine beaded border encircles the effigy, with the legend QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND arching around the periphery in raised Latin lettering.
