Issued to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which replaced the Central Bank of the Philippines in 1993 following the latter's closure under a massive debt crisis that left it insolvent. The old Central Bank had accumulated losses exceeding ₱300 billion, and the BSP was deliberately chartered as a fiscally independent institution to prevent a repeat — a structural distinction that makes this anniversary genuinely significant in Philippine monetary history.
