Obverse description Draped bust of King Philip V facing right, wearing a flowing periwig with elaborate curls, set within a plain field. The peripheral legend reads PHILIP · V · D · G · HISPAN · ET · IND · REX, interrupted at the base by the date flanked by rosette stops. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style typical of early milled coinage of the Mexico City Mint, with fine detail in the lace cravat and armored truncation. A toothed or reeded border runs along the entire rim.
