| Obverse description | The Chilean national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by a rampant lion to the left and a condor to the right, surmounted by a plumed crest of three ostrich feathers. An ornate laurel and floral wreath frames the base of the shield. The date 1849 appears in the lower exergue. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE is inscribed around the upper periphery, interrupted by the mint assayer initials So, with a star on each side of the date. |
