Obverse description The arms of the Republic of Peru occupy the central field, depicting the national coat of arms: a quartered shield bearing a vicuña passant at upper left, a cinchona tree at upper right, and a cornucopia issuing coins at base, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel and palm fronds. Two Peruvian flags flank the shield, and a civic wreath surmounts it. The date appears in the lower exergue beneath the shield. The circular legend reading REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA 21 QUILATES Y B arcs around the upper periphery, with the assayer initials and fineness statement completing the inscription.
