Reverse description Central device features two hemispheres of the globe resting upon stylised waves, surmounted by the royal crown, flanked symmetrically by the crowned Pillars of Hercules — the classical columns representing the Strait of Gibraltar. Scrolling banderoles wind around each pillar, inscribed PLUS on the left and VLTRA on the right, forming the motto 'Plus Ultra' (Further Beyond), the imperial device of the Spanish Crown. The mint mark 'Mo' appears at the base of each pillar. The date is placed in the exergue below the waves. The encircling peripheral legend reads VTRAQUE VNUM (Both as One), referencing the unity of the Old and New Worlds under the Spanish Crown, with decorative rosette stops separating the legend elements.
