| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Selim III, rendered in the ornate Ottoman calligraphic style with characteristic looped and interlaced strokes rising vertically from a broad base. The tughra is flanked by scrolling foliate flourishes and surmounted by a stylized crown-like ornament. The field is plain and unadorned beyond the monogram itself. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with a cable or rope-pattern outer rim encircling the entire obverse. |
