| Obverse lettering | ΑΦΙΛΑC ΒΑCΙΛЄΥC (Translation: Aphilas, King [...]) |
| Reverse description | A small draped bust of the king facing right, wearing a headcloth, rendered within a beaded or dotted circle that is closed by a single dot at the top and another at the bottom, forming a complete border. Above the bust, a pellet on crescent motif divides the surrounding Greek legend into two segments. The reverse legend references Aksum and the epithet or place-name Dimele, consistent with the titulature known from other Aphilas issues. The compact, finely detailed bust within the circle is a hallmark of Aksumite bronze coinage of this period. The general execution, though struck on an irregular flan, demonstrates competent die engraving in the Hellenistic tradition. |
