| Obverse description | Draped and diademed bust of Herod of Chalcis facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal portrait tradition. The effigy displays curly hair beneath a narrow diadem, with drapery visible at the truncation of the bust. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΗΡΩΔΗΣ ΦΙΛΟΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΣ, identifying the ruler as King Herod, Friend of Claudius.
