Obverse description A finely engraved scenic field depicting a fortified hilltop stronghold with battlements running along a steep mountain ridge. In the lower left foreground, a field cannon is shown firing, with billowing smoke, directed toward the fortification; a flagstaff with banner is visible at centre-lower ground, set against a landscape of rugged terrain rendered in fine line engraving.

Reverse description The reverse bears a multi-line Persian inscription engraved across the entire field, reading from top to bottom in Nastaliq script, recording the award of the medal by the Nawab Governor-General Bahadur for distinguished service during the hill campaigns of Hijri years 1229 and 1230. No border legend or exergue is present; the text fills the plain field entirely.
