Obverse description The Paraguayan national coat of arms (Sello Nacional) depicted in the center field, consisting of a five-pointed star surrounded by a wreath of palm and olive branches. Reverse description The original reverse of the 1 Centésimo coin shows the denomination legend CENTESIMO arching above a central lozenge-shaped device flanked by laurel branches, with the date 1870 at the bottom. A large cattle-brand countermark in the form of a stylized letter N (or branded monogram) has been applied in heavy relief over the central field, dominating the surface.
