Obverse description Cast brass charm with a scalloped, lobed border featuring raised bosses at the cardinal and intercardinal points. A central round hole is surrounded by a double ring of interlocking cloud or fret scroll motifs in relief. Four Chinese characters are arranged in the four quadrants of the field, interspersed with stylized bat devices rendered in high relief, symbolizing good fortune.
