Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Tsar Ivan Stratsimir standing in imperial regalia, holding a patriarchal cross in his right hand. The figure is rendered in a stylized Byzantine manner characteristic of late medieval Bulgarian coinage. To the left of the figure, the Cyrillic letter Ч (che) appears in the field, accompanied by a star above it, serving as a mint or control mark. The flan is irregular and the relief is moderately bold, typical of hammered copper issues of the Vidin Tsardom.
