Reverse description An eagle displayed, wings spread wide, with head turned to the right, rendered in a robust heraldic style filling the entire coin field. The eagle's breast and lower body terminate in elaborately stylized foliate or floral ornamental scrollwork, a distinctive decorative convention of the Lithuanian denar series struck under Sigismund II August at the Vilnius Mint. No legend or inscription surrounds the device; the plain, irregular flan is characteristic of the hammered technique employed for this denomination.
