| Obverse description | Hammered irregular flan typical of late 14th to early 15th century Russian wire money. The obverse depicts a mounted warrior or horseman in profile facing right, rendered in a crude but characteristic medieval Russian style. The figure appears to carry a weapon or lance, consistent with depictions found on dengas of the Serpukhov-Borovsk appanage principality. Portions of a Cyrillic or pseudo-Cyrillic legend are visible in the field, though worn and partially off-flan. The overall execution reflects the primitive die-cutting techniques of the period. |
