Obverse description Central device depicting a stylised Romanesque cathedral or church facade in profile, rendered with a triangular gabled roof surmounted by a small pellet, and a columned portico below, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The architectural motif is rendered in a bold, low-relief hammered style characteristic of medieval episcopal coinage. The surrounding field carries the circular Latin legend SEDES LAVSANE, identifying the seat of the Bishopric of Lausanne. The legend is separated from the central device by the beaded border. The coin exhibits the irregular flan typical of hammered silver deniers of this period.
