Reverse description Central field displays a large stylized architectural or monogrammatic device, interpreted as a church facade or a combination of letters forming a cross-like monogram, enclosed within a partial arc or crescent. The design is boldly struck in high relief against a flat field, surrounded by fragmentary Latin legend letters around the periphery. The overall composition reflects the strong Ottonian numismatic influence on early Polish coinage. The irregular flan and characteristic hammered fabric are consistent with the Kopicki type 6 attribution.

Additional information

Boleslaus I inherited the Polish duchy in 992 and was only crowned king in 1025, in the final weeks of his life — meaning this denier was struck under a ruler who was technically still a duke for most of the issue's production window. His mints remain unidentified with certainty, and the attribution to a specific workshop is still contested among Polish medieval numismatists. Kop#6 is among the earliest documented Polish coinage types, predating the establishment of any confirmed royal mint infrastructure.
