| Obverse description | Central field features a stylized architectural motif resembling a gabled structure or triangular roof form, surmounted by a small cross, rendered in a primitive Romanesque hammered style characteristic of early Bohemian coinage. Flanking elements consist of debased letter-like forms and decorative devices arranged around the central device. The legend BOLESLAVS, partially legible due to the archaic die-cutting technique, encircles the design in retrograde or irregular Latin characters. The overall composition reflects the influence of Ottonian denier prototypes on nascent Přemyslid monetary production. The flan is irregular with slightly ragged edges typical of hand-hammered silver of the tenth century. |
