Additional information

Ottokar II was expanding Bohemian power aggressively during these years — absorbing Austria in 1251 and pushing toward the Adriatic — and the thin, large-flan bracteate format common to central European minting at this period suited a court that needed coinage produced quickly and in volume. The extreme fragility of these pieces, struck on a single die with a uniface impression, means most survivors show cracking or incomplete strikes along the outer edge.

Cach 769 is among the scarcer numbered types of his early reign.
