| Obverse description | Central cross with pellets in two opposing angles, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing letters of the royal name and title. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the surrounding circular legend reading ODDO + DI GRA + REX, rendered in crude, characteristic Ottonian lettering. The overall composition reflects the standard Ottonian cross-type denier design, with the inscription distributed around the perimeter of the coin in a continuous band. The hammered flan is irregular, typical of late tenth-century Germanic workshop production. |
