Reverse description Central diamond-shaped (lozenge) cross within a beaded inner circle, with a crescent or lunette ornament in each of the four quarters formed by the arms of the cross. The bold relief of the central motif is characteristic of early Carolingian-influenced Norman coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the beaded border, identifying the mint city. The flan shows typical medieval irregularity with a visible crack and slightly clipped edges.
