Reverse description Facing left or right, the diademed head of the nymph Aigeste is presented in fine high-relief Greek portraiture, set within a shallow circular incuse depression. The nymph's hair is bound with a diadem, and the facial features exhibit the elegant idealism characteristic of late fifth-century Sicilian coinage. The ethnic legend ΣEΓEΣTAZIB is inscribed around the periphery of the incuse field in archaic Greek characters, identifying the issuing city of Segesta.
