Obverse description A stylized tree or plant motif rising from the base of the field, bisected vertically by a long cross surmounted by a small cross at the top. Foliate scrollwork branches extend to either side of the vertical shaft in a symmetrical arrangement. The horizontal legend ARAGON is inscribed across the central field, flanking the upright cross. The design is executed in the crude, bold style characteristic of 11th-century Iberian hammered coinage, with a beaded outer border visible along the coin's irregular flan.
