Obverse description Central field dominated by a prominent six-pointed star (hexagram) formed by two interlaced triangles, with a small central pellet at its heart. The hexagram is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a wreath or decorative foliage border rendered in a crude, stylized manner typical of early Iberian medieval hammered coinage. The overall design is executed in low relief with irregular striking, characteristic of 12th-century Portuguese minting practice.

Reverse description Central device consisting of a tall cross with an annulet or decorative element at its base, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the inner field into quadrants, with the legend disposed around the periphery in a circular arrangement. The lettering is crude and somewhat irregular, reflecting the rudimentary engraving standards of early Portuguese royal coinage under Afonso I. The entire reverse is enclosed within a beaded outer border, with the design struck on an irregular flan.
