Additional information

Badakhshan, the mountainous region straddling the upper Amu Darya, occupied a peculiar political position in the early fourteenth century — nominally subject to the Chagatai Khanate yet governed by a persistent local dynasty that managed to strike its own silver. Alishah II's reign is poorly documented, and surviving dirhams from this issue are rare enough that die studies remain incomplete.
