| Obverse description | Phoenician war galley (bireme) sailing left across stylized waves rendered as a double row of chevrons, the hull detailed with a row of oar-ports and a ram at the prow. The vessel is depicted in profile with fine engraving of the deck structure and rigging. Below the galley, two horizontal bands of zigzag lines represent the sea. The entire design is contained within a beaded border, characteristic of Sidonian coinage of the late fifth and early fourth centuries BC. |

| Reverse description | The Persian Great King or satrap, crowned with a tall kidaris, seated in a two-wheeled chariot drawn left by two horses. The king holds a scepter or lotus flower and is attended by an armed charioteer or running figure to the right. A smaller attendant figure kneels or runs before the horses at lower left. The spoked wheel of the chariot is rendered in fine detail. The scene is enclosed within a beaded border and set on a ground line, reflecting the strong Achaemenid artistic influence prevalent on Sidonian coinage under Baalshillem II. A Phoenician inscription identifying the king appears in the field. |
