| Obverse lettering | STEPHANVS D G REX POLONIÆ 1580. |
| Reverse description | A large, spread eagle displayed, crowned, with wings outstretched and talons curling below, rendered in vigorous relief characteristic of the Olkusz mint's hammered technique. A heraldic shield is superimposed on the eagle's breast, bearing the quartered arms of Poland and Lithuania. The eagle's head faces sinister and is surmounted by a royal crown. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the circumferential Latin legend, which enumerates the king's titles as Grand Duke of Lithuania, ruler of Russia, Prussia, Masovia, and other territories. |
