Reverse description Two conjoined heraldic shields, each bearing elaborate armorial quartering representing the many dominions of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, surmounted by a large royal crown. The shields are depicted in detailed Renaissance style, with intricate hatching typical of hammered silver coinage of this era. The date 1580 is divided and placed to either side of the crowned shields in the field. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the central design along the coin's periphery, citing the king's titles as Grand Duke of Lithuania, Russia, and Prussia.
