| Obverse description | Central field bears the Arabic honorific legend of the ruler al-Malik al-Salih in bold Kufic script, arranged in two or three lines within a beaded inner circle. A stylized fleur-de-lis ornament appears prominently in the upper field, serving as a decorative device characteristic of Zengid coinage from Aleppo. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered copper issues of the period. The outer border consists of a dotted or beaded circle framing the central design. |
