Additional information

Shahrukh Mirza, fourth son of Timur, consolidated control over the eastern Timurid domains after a brutal succession war and ruled from Herat for four decades — one of the longest and most culturally productive reigns in the dynasty's history. Balkh, as a major administrative and commercial node on routes connecting Khorasan to Transoxiana, required its own copper small-change for local market use. Fals coinage of this type rarely traveled far; most examples found today show heavy wear consistent with intensive local circulation before abandonment.
