Obverse description Three lines of Arabic script legend contained within a double circular border. The legend reads 'Struck in Fas (Fez), year one,' referencing the first regnal year of the issuing sultan. The inscription is struck on an irregularly shaped copper flan typical of hammered Moroccan falus coinage of the Saadian period. The lettering is bold but slightly off-center, consistent with hand-struck production methods of the era.
