Obverse description Central field depicts a lion passant to the right in bold relief, rendered in a stylized manner consistent with Safavid-era copper coinage. The animal's tail curves upward behind its haunches, and dotted pellets are scattered across the field beneath and around the figure, a decorative convention common to Iranian provincial copper issues. The border is composed of a ring of raised beads encircling the entire design. The lion motif served both as a zodiacal symbol for Leo and as an enduring emblem of Iranian sovereignty. The overall strike is characteristic of hammered production, resulting in a slightly irregular flan with patchy green cuprite patination.
