| Obverse description | Crude facing bust of Christ Pantokrator rendered in low relief, characteristic of Bulgarian imitative coinage derived from Byzantine prototypes. The effigy displays a frontal nimbed head with schematized facial features, flanked by abbreviated traces of the traditional IC XC Christogram in the fields, though heavily stylized and largely illegible. The bust is shown draped, with both hands indicated below in a manner imitating the Byzantine gesture of benediction. The overall execution is rough and summary, reflecting the provincial hammered technique employed by Bulgarian workshops of the late 12th to early 13th century. |
