| Obverse description | Central field bears the honorific Arabic legend of the Imam al-Mutawakkil 'ala Allah, rendered in a fluid, cursive Naskh script typical of Yemeni Zaidi hammered coinage of the 17th century. The inscription is the principal design element, occupying the full flan with no border or decorative framing. The irregular flan edges and characteristic surface texture reflect the hand-struck hammered technique employed at the Sana'a mint. |
