| Obverse description | Arabic legend struck along the length of the wire, reading the royal titulature of Shah Isma'il I Safavi. The inscription, rendered in a compressed Naskh script across the flat face of the hammered silver bar, reads the honorific titles: 'Sultan al-Adil al-Kamil al-Hadi wal-Muzaffar Shah Ismail al-Safavi'. The legend is distributed across the flattened surface of the larin, typical of the hairpin-form coinage of the Safavid period. |
