| Reverse description | The emperor stands facing in military attire, his head turned slightly, holding a labarum — the Chi-Rho standard — upright in his right hand and a globus surmounted by a Victory in his left, symbolising universal Roman dominion and divine favour. The composition reflects the standard late Roman imperial iconography asserting the emperor's role as guardian of the Roman world. The divided legend GLORIA-ROMANORVM, meaning 'Glory of the Romans', flanks the central figure across the field. The exergue bears a mint mark from the Constantinople mint, with various officina letters recorded (CONS followed by B, Γ, or Δ). A beaded border frames the reverse design. |
