| Reverse description | The central field depicts an allegorical scene in high relief: Dania, a draped female figure seated left with the Danish royal arms at her side, receives a winged putto playing a lyre, presented by a nude female figure seated on a dolphin to the right. The wide outer border is divided into sixteen compartments, each containing a miniature relief reproducing one of Thorvaldsen's most celebrated sculptures. The date MDCCCXXXVIII and place name HAFNIAE appear in the lower exergue. |
