| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Shahada inscription executed in bold thuluth script, reading the Islamic profession of faith together with the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam. The text is arranged within a circular inner border, with the field divided by horizontal rules separating successive lines of the legend. A secondary marginal legend in thuluth script encircles the entire design within the outer border, continuing the enumeration of the Imams. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the periphery, characteristic of Safavid hammered gold coinage. |
