Obverse description Central field depicts a crowned standing figure, likely a countess or regal personage, shown facing front in a hieratic posture with arms extended, holding what appears to be a sceptre or floral emblem in the right hand. The figure is rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner typical of 13th-century Low Countries hammered coinage. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading LVSEN BOR, an abbreviated form of LUXEMBOURG. The legend is set within a beaded or dotted border running along the coin's periphery.
