| Reverse description | Forepart of a boar striding to the right, with both forelegs fully extended and visible, rendered in bold relief against a recessed incuse square. The boar's bristled back and snout are clearly delineated, consistent with the artistic conventions of Phokian federal coinage of this period. Vestiges of the incuse square frame the design, a hallmark of early Greek hammered coinage technique. The field around the boar type is plain within the incuse boundary. The design reflects the regional iconographic tradition of animal protomes employed on Phokian obol denominations. |
