Reverse description Central device depicting what appears to be a stylized eagle or bird displayed within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the rough, schematic manner typical of small hammered billon coins of the period. The circumferential legend COMTESA VRGL, identifying the issuer as Countess of Urgell, runs between the inner beaded border and an outer beaded rim. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked at the edges, consistent with the thin hammered fabric of this denomination. The design elements, though worn, convey the heraldic imagery associated with the County of Urgell in the early 13th century.
