Reverse description Plain, slightly convex inner field with a small cross pattée at centre, enclosed within a raised inner circle. The surrounding circular legend reads + REGИΛLD Mo EFoRPC, identifying the moneyer Ragnald operating at the mint of Eoforwic (York), rendered in bold Anglo-Saxon majuscule lettering. A raised outer band separates the legend from the beaded rim. The reverse layout follows the standard two-line moneyer and mint formula characteristic of Æthelstan's Small Cross type pennies struck at the Viking-influenced York mint.
