Obverse description Central oval wreath frames two crossed flags, one bearing the Belgian lion device; flanking the wreath to the left is a shield displaying a rampant lion and to the right a flag bearing a star, referencing the Belgian Congo. The lower field carries the inaugural inscription in raised relief, with the engraver's signature 'Floris de Cuyper' at lower left.

Reverse description Detailed port-side relief portrait of the steamship Albertville underway at sea, with seagulls in the background and a harbour with spires visible to the right. The engraver's signature 'Floris de Cuyper' appears at lower right.
