Giori — the Swiss-Italian intaglio press manufacturer — routinely produced demonstration pieces in collaboration with their client mints, and this 1991 sample is one such piece, printed at the Santiago facility to showcase the Casa de Moneda's production capabilities on Giori equipment. These promotional notes were never issued or assigned a denomination; they existed purely as trade material, distributed at security printing conferences or to prospective government clients.
Cotton substrate was standard for such demos — it behaved under intaglio identically to a live banknote, making the samples genuinely representative of press performance rather than approximations.
