Additional information

Berdi Beg ruled the Golden Horde for less than two years before being murdered in 759 AH, almost certainly by his brother Qulpa, who then seized the throne. His brief reign fell at the opening of the period Safargaliev and later scholars called the "Great Troubles" — roughly two decades of dynastic violence during which the Golden Horde cycled through more than twenty khans. Copper puls of this issue are among the few tangible artifacts of a reign too short to leave much else behind.
