| Obverse description | A dolphin depicted swimming to the left occupies the central field, its body arched in characteristic marine style. A trident is shown diagonally above or alongside the dolphin, both devices serving as maritime emblems emblematic of Carteia's coastal identity. The legend CARTEIA appears in Latin characters along the lower portion of the field. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of locally struck Hispanic municipal bronzes of the Augustan period.
