| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, with a decorative floral motif at the centre. The ideograms read 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao), identifying the reign period and denomination. An encircling legend in smaller Chinese characters runs along the inner periphery of the coin, denoting the issuing province (新省, Xinjiang) and the denomination (銀市一分五厘).
