The portrait is rendered in the Gothic Revival style associated with William Wyon's celebrated design for the original 1847 Gothic Florin. The circular legend in Fraktur blackletter script reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAE REG F D, running around the full periphery of the field. The design is set against a deeply recessed mirror-like proof field, bordered by a beaded inner rim with decorative floral stops separating the legend. |
