Obverse description Tetrastyle facade of the Temple of Jerusalem rendered in high relief, with four columns supporting an entablature. Within the temple portico, the Ark of the Covenant is depicted in chest form with a semicircular lid and short legs. A star appears prominently above the Ark in the upper field, serving as a possible messianic symbol referencing Bar Kokhba ('Son of a Star'). The paleo-Hebrew legend reading 'Shimon' (Simon) is inscribed in the field. The flan is irregular, as characteristic of hand-struck emergency coinage of the period.
