Obverse description Central panel containing an inscription, frequently blundered, arranged within a framework of crossed wreaths; a decorative ring ornament occupies each of the four corners of the panel. The overall design reflects the geometric and schematic artistic conventions characteristic of late British Iron Age coinage. The lettering, rendered in a debased Latin script, reads VE(R) or VII depending on the die variety.
